要旨・内容

本研究では以前筆者らにより構築したLinuxマイコンと携帯電話網に接続可能なUSBモデムとの組み合わせた超小型で安価な組込み型VPNシステムにWEBカメラや温湿度センサを接続し、タブレットコンピュータなどのスマートデバイスを用い、センサから遠く離れた場所からでもWebブラウザにてカメラ画像や温湿度センサなどの情報を取得が可能であることを示した成果を八戸工業大学・学生チャレンジプロジェクトと公共施設を活用して地域おこしに応用するため、小型で安価かつ運用コストの低いシステムにより、種差海岸の状況を八戸工大に設置したHTTPサーバを介し世界に発信するシステムを構築した。さらに、地域住民を対象とした講習会イベントを開催して地域住民への観光地の宣伝とICTの啓蒙活動を実践した。本文では、これらの活動状況につき報告する。


要旨・内容 (英語)

This paper reports on the author’s development of an ultra-small, low-power, economical sensor information remote monitoring system featuring low operational cost. The system is used with an ARMbased Linux microcomputer and a USB-connected modem to enable 3.9th-generation cellular network connection combination, allowing operation with a private IP address via an embedded VPN program for easy negotiation of NAT and firewall protection. The author has also shown that camera images and information on temperature/humidity from sensor-remote locations could be securely acquired through a web browser using a smart device by connecting a commercially available and economical USB web camera and a temperature/humidity sensor to the system. This application can be set up anywhere, including in mountainous areas and at sea, because Internet connection is enabled via mobile-phone platforms. The outcomes of verification work indicate that the system can be applied for a range of purposes, including electricity consumption monitoring, remote crop management, and off-site evaluation of growth in coastal aquaculture. It can also be used in M2M application and for IoT usage. Examples include fixed-point observation using telemeters and an instrument shelter for combination with a standalone electricity supply and an electricity storage system, and the connection of atmospheric sensors. The system is also useful in mass teaching of advanced configuration technology for computer networks and server programs to students via their own digital devices. Such educational programs enable hands-on learning on campus because the system is created with inexpensive devices. It also details the system’s use in an advertising campaign for a local tourist spot and its application in local economic development projects using a broadcast server via the Internet based on university-community collaboration.
